Sanitary Pads & Underwear Drive Program
Bebea e.V. understands that most young girls come from families experiencing resource constraints and cannot afford underwears and pads for managing menstrual cycles. Consequently, some girls miss school during their menstrual experiences. A study by Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Heart Education revealed that 42% of Kenyan school girls, especially those in rural regions, can't afford sanitary pads. Instead, they use alternatives such as rags, blankets, pieces of mattress, tissue paper, and cotton wool. Therefore, we distribute pads and underwears periodically to schools in rural Siaya region to help such girls feel comfortable and constinue education. So far, we have distributed sanitary pads and underwears to over 1,500 girls in various schools in rural Siaya.
